St. Patrick's Cathedral, Church of Ireland, Dublin Boys Brigade Memorial

North aisle of St. Patrick's Cathedral, Patrick Street.

Type

Bronze memorial on marble.

Inscriptions & Imagery

The emblem of the Boys Brigade appears at the top of the memorial and includes their motto 'Sure & Steadfast'. The top border has images of oak leaves, the bottom border has fruit, the left and right borders and the four corners have shamrocks. There is an image of a boy blowing a bugle at the bottom. The inscription reads:

OF THE DUBLIN BATTALION OF

THE BOYS BRIGADE WHO GAVE

THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR

OF THE BATTALION VOLUNTEERED

FOR ACTIVE SERVICE IN HIS MAJESTY'S
